Celebrate Father’s Day at Lydham Hall!

Meet our friendly volunteer guides and learn about the former resident fathers of Lydham Hall, including:

  • Joseph Davis (1826 – 1889), master butcher (pictured) and the first owner of Lydham Hall in the late 1800s.
  • Frederick Gibbins (1841 – 1917), purchased Lydham Hall from the Davis family  and rented the sandstone home to a series of tenants.
  • David George Stead (1877 – 1957), married Joseph’s daughter. Science educator, conservationist, and co-founder of the Australian Wildlife Society. Father of 3 daughters and 3 sons.

In the cafe, we’re serving hearty Father’s Day fare:

  • Homemade Pie, Mash and Peas: A traditional classic from London’s East End.
  • BBQ meat patties on a Fresh Bread Roll: Juicy beef patties with smoky, tangy barbecue sauce.
  • Chicken Sausage on a Fresh Bread Roll: Perfectly spiced and deliciously tender, these sausages are a unique twist on the barbecue favourite.

Our traditional Devonshire Tea (freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jam, tea or coffee) is always on the menu.

On-street parking is available or a short bus trip from Rockdale Station takes you within a 5-minute walk of the museum.

The house and manicured gardens are regularly open to the public and for group tours and venue hire.

The interior of Lydham Hall is presented in the style of a late Victorian residence, with a fine collection of antique furniture and over 1,500 objects of local and historical interest contained within the rooms and in the museum upstairs.

The museum also has a library and archives which contain a broad range of books, photographs and documents on local places, people, events, and institutions.
