Founded in 1961, the St George Historical Society is dedicated to promoting and conserving the history of the St George District of New South Wales, Australia, for the benefit of our members, affiliated societies and the broader community.
The Society presents an active program of events, publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, maintains a library and museum collections, provides research services and hosts exhibitions in the New South Wales State Heritage-listed, Lydham Hall Historic House Museum.
The Society, a not-for-profit voluntary organisation, is governed according to our Constitution. It is managed by the SGHS Committee and supported by Bayside Council.

Lydham Hall Open Day: Sunday, 3 August, 10am – 4pm
Back by popular demand, the St George Sutherland Scottish Pipe Band is returning to Lydham Hall. See them at midday for two 45-minute sessions.
In the house, meet our volunteer guides and learn how the 19th century residents of Lydham Hall kept warm during winter without electricity and air conditioning.
In the cafe, we’re serving a delicious range of Scottish fare.
Our traditional Devonshire Tea (freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jam, tea or coffee) is always on the menu.
